Isn't it kind of passe that one wants to spend the whole life on the Internet these days- Facebook, Twitter, and the other army of social networking sites that get updated every second by people. And guess what, people lap it up too.
I don't understand the way people think their lives are historical, that they share every single moment of it; most of them useless updates to be frank. What, are they waiting for some historian to look up their electronic diary?
Well, I guess it's the will to communicate.
I like the way people present a specific though, opinion or idea in the form of a tweet or a blog post, as long as its sane enough to be read. That said, I have read some wonderful things on the net as well as some bad things. It all, comes down to the writing.
Finally, I hope this ain't something hat hard-hitting. No, I haven't intended it to be. Just the fuelled ramblings of a man.

ReplyDeleteeven i cant understand the point of people becoming so addicted to FB and twitter. but then its an ADDICTION :P i had an FB account once, got bored, quit :P i am thinking of activating it back though, it helps to promote blog.
but i think blogs are different and whatever blogs i have visited till now(which are many :P) i have always found something interesting to read.
and true, it all comes down to the writing style :P
Thanks! yes, I too don't see Facebook and minute-to-minute posting coming into my life any soon. Although Twitter got me addicted and I'm only removing the bug now.
DeleteYeah, no one can beat the medium of blogging.
I agree, some people post utter useless stuff. Why they do that is a big riddle to me?
ReplyDeleteYeah, and the problem being updates like 'Off to work.' I mean, seriously?
DeleteThanks for your feedback.
DeleteInternet has started taking over the life.
ReplyDeleteYes, over personal life.
DeleteIndeed useless status updates do irritate us...most of which has their source from an easy ctrl +c and
ReplyDeletectrl +v.Existence of creative stuff on the blogs are all that keeps me stuck to internet..! great topic to post on!
Right! Copy pasting the stuff! And as for the existence of creative stuff on blogs, well, that's what keep everyone hooked on to the net!

Thank you.
Deletequite honestly i had thought about this sometime ago. i wonder why do have these urges (if i can say so) to record the fantastic and mundane things that happen in our life in fb or twitter. ways of world i guess. keep blogging... i'll come ard :)
ReplyDeleteand i almost forgot ur display picture reminds me of james bond!!! :P
DeleteHaha! Thanks! A compliment in itself!
DeleteAnd yes, people's constant and useless updates get irritating!
DeleteI do have to make a special effort to stay connected to the real world, real people as I enjoy blogs, movies, plays and books. That's where I discover ideas and thoughts - some good, uplifting, unique and some not. As for fb, being away from family I really enjoyed it for a while - felt good to be reconnected. Now my visits have started tapering off. I don't think they will die out completely though.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the pleasure in books, blogs and movies. As for social media, I hope it ain't restricted to social networking sites only.

DeleteHello! I love your blog! Thanks so much for visiting my blog today.
ReplyDeleteI just saw a news clip today where a journalist was in Havana and speaking to teenagers, how the kids talked about communicating more by sitting at a cafe and talking, more so than via FB or blogging. A good thing in my opinion. :)
that's a novel initiative. Thanks to you too!
Delete:)
ReplyDeleteRohit, you are quite right, it all comes down to the quality of the writing! Best, January PS. Found you on Writers Vineyard this AM. Happy writing!
