That rectangle shape

That awkward thing you have to do to get the blanket in the right way.

During my childhood, I fondly remember, I found it strange that there was a shoe specifically designed for each foot. Why couldn't the left shoe fit on the right foot?  Gradually, I started thinking about other things too. And realised that many things don't make sense.

For one, beds are usually shaped like rectangles. Why must sheets and blankets be shaped this way too? Maybe it looks better? But I guess blanket designers need to keep in mind he benefit of the person, not the bed.

Suppose it's a cold night and wake up feeling cold in your legs. You try to cover the whole body by adjusting the blanket over your legs. Now you do a kick-thing to get it the correct way. So why can't have be square-shaped or even circular blankets? It would be worth it.

  3. Very inspiring. I will think of this when teaching shapes to the children in my TEFL class:) We lived in New Delhi for 5 years and I studied Bharat Natyam under Guru Dakshinamurthy who was from Tamil Nadu. His wife often made idlis and dhosas for me, I love them. My daughter hungrycaramella.blogspot loves Indian food and misses India tremenduously, so I make Indian food at least twice a week here in Rome. By the way, if you look under the posts in February you will see other pictures of Rome. I will post more later so keep in touch. We are actually from Trapani, Sicily but are now temporarily back in Rome.

  5. I would prefer a rectangle blanket because the human body is long. Rectangle will cover better than say a circular shaped blanket

    1. Yes, but a square-shaped blanket could be a possible option too.

  7. Or maybe have blankets shaped like tubes and you snuggle in like a sleeping bag.

  8. Reminds me of that argument as to why pizzas never come in circular boxes.

I had complaints about the bed sheets not staying in place, until I came across fitted sheets. Tucking those blankets should help. I also like the idea your friend here has, that of blankets shaped like tubes. :)

  11. Interesting! Then again, I would not enjoy shoes that weren't shaped to fit my feet. Blankets, on the other hand, could be any shape and I would be happy. Except triangle-shaped. Brrr.
